Bio
Wendy Lipshutz has directed our domestic violence program, Shalom Bayit (Peace in the Home) since its inception in 1993. She has worked in the field of domestic violence since 1983. As a counselor and advocate, Wendy supports survivors in immediate crises of domestic abuse as well as those navigating challenges moving through lives impacted by the trauma of violence and abuse. She works with adults to understand the dynamics of abuse, to cope with and address the impact of trauma in their lives, and to move from victimization to survival, towards wholeness with freedom from the intensity of abuse.
A Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Wendy received her Masters of Social Work from the University of Georgia and her Bachelor of Science from Northwestern University. In addition to clinical counseling, she provides education around issues of abuse, based on over 40 years of work in this field. Prior to JF&CS, she directed a domestic violence shelter in Auburn, Alabama for 8 years and has served on multiple national and regional domestic violence boards and advisory committees. Shalom Bayit, which is non-sectarian and serves individuals from all backgrounds, faiths, cultures and lifestyles, remains one of the first in the nation and only program in Georgia that specifically addresses domestic violence within the context of the Jewish community.
